I'm completely floored by the characterization here and how well written this is. I was stuck at the first paragraph for several minutes, rereading it again and again because goddammit that'show much of an asshole Izaya is. And I was delightfully surprised at the fact that you set this up during Kida's hospital stay - the gap between the hospital scene with Saki and the chat room scene at the end has always nagged me and I mean really, who wouldn't want to know how Kida ended up slaving away working for Izaya-- anyway. I'm in love with every single detail you wrote into this. Not sure whether this is finished or not but hoping that I'll be able to see more of your writing. Write an omake!

...from what I remember from that volume, Kida and Saki runs away together (Saki, in particular, 'betrays' Izaya, choosing her love for Kida over her religious!belief in Izaya etc etc). And then I can't remember what happened. But somehow it ended up with the couple gathering info for Izaya (I still can't get over how it seemed like Izaya and Kida were next to each other IRL during the chat session... or maybe I'm imagining too much? Who knows). And after that Kida's still pretty much Izaya's pawn for manipulating Mikado (using his chat handle etc) and Kida knows and still can't do anything about it and I am still all "...but why" about it all. Well, if I conveniently ignore the whole PROTECT MY BEST FRIEND thing going on between the two kids. But still.
That said, I have to repeat again that I absolutely adore your story and really, really hope to see more of your writing. Omake here or somewhere else in the meme or... you get the idea.

I function on a 'what I've read that is translated' basis, and it's hard for me to keep story lines together sometimes, so I actually have NO IDEA what chat you're referring to (though I do know the one where Izaya uses Kida's handle).
I'm still hoping for a good end for Mikado, Kida, and Anri (SNUGGLES FOR ALL!) but who knows. XD

Ah, I have a hard time keeping track on what goes on with the updates in translations over here so please forgive me for rambling off about random scenes. But, to put it briefly, the chat I was referring to is the one where Kida first joined the chat room after the events in vol 3 and we learn that he's working for Izaya. I-It's horrible sweet on the Mikado-Kida side and there's also the I-wish-Kanra-san-will-drop-dead + oh-how-mean on the Kida-Izaya side.

XD This is the only Izaya/Kida I've written for the meme, and I haven't really written as much as I thought. Plus style wise the other things I've written are different. XD You'd probably be like 'omg what this is the same author? O-o;;;'
