under these crumpled papers,
discarded razor blades, glasses,
carmine-smeared cotton,
the cans half-full, the cigarette
wrappers and sauce spoons,
the pizza boxes and clothing tags,
signs and mail-order coupons

one day, I fear
I will find you staring up
through a lattice of onion skins
waiting for me
