So, this morning (okay, this noon), I was doing the sensible thing and preparing information for my graduate school applications. Getting addresses for letters of recommendation, that sort of thing. I check the UC Davis school of Entomology, which is a program I'm very excited about

Woo! I went to UC Davis, and even took a basic entomology class there (it was a blast!). Hope that they don't give you too much trouble with the late application!

You went to Davis? Awesome. I'm an alumni too--just graduated in June.

I've emailed the professor who I was talking to about the lab about it, and I should be able to get my statement of purpose polished and my letters of recommendation through by Tuesday or Wednesday. So it won't be too late.

Californian schools are impacted. If you were considering other in-state programs, you might want to double-check their deadlines, too.

Did they make their deadline earlier just to mess with people and be generally dickish, or did were there legitimate factors for making it so much earlier than the rest of the universe?
