TM challenge 136: 'What doesn't kill us makes us stronger.' Do you agree or disagree? Why?
”What doesn't kill us makes us stronger. Do you agree or disagree? Why?”
Simon tossed and turned in his dreams. The sweet voice of the kindly old man hid a sadistic vile mind and a truly evil heart.
“Come now, Dr. Tam. I already killed him once. Do you want me to kill him again?”
Simon thrashed in his bunk, tangling his legs in the covers.
“You gorram hundan!! I’ll throttle you!” he shouted in his dream, but he couldn’t get close enough.
Malcom was slumped against some huge machine. Simon feared he was dead.
”Answer the question, Dr. Tam. Your answer determines whether I kill him again or not. After all, he loves you. Yessss, it is your name he screams loudest when I torture him. And I do want to torture him again, but he has gone and died on me. So tell me. Dr. Tam, do you agree or disagree: what doesn't kill us makes us stronger?”

TM challenge 135: Talk about something you inherited. (It could be an object, a physical attribute, a belief, etc.)
There’s a beautiful statue of Kwan Yin… marble… ageless. Mom swears it dates back to Earth That Was. Dad… well, he’s skeptical because there’s no proof of provenance. It was passed down in my mother’s family, from Mother to daughter. I wish River could have it now. It’s said to bring safety and solace, special healing in times of need, even money, occasionally.
I think, sometimes, that it was Kwan Yin that led me to… the men who helped me get River out. I know She gave me the strength to persevere through all the obstacles. And yet, I don’t feel particularly religious.
Mother gave me her quiet certainty that it would all work out in the end.
Thank god - thank Kwan Yin, rather - I didn’t inherit her blind stupidity. I think our brains must have skipped a generation or two come to think of it. Neither of our parents is particularly bright.
