[Loki's roller-skating his way home from conning drones out of groceries, because the refrigerator was getting empty, when he spots Dr. Spengler. Ordinarily, he would just state on by. However, the odd little device the bespectacled man is holding just starts going wild as Loki approaches. It's not enough to stop Loki, but he does give Spengler a curious glance as he coasts by.]
[Yeah, Egon is so oblivious to his surroundings and so focused on what he's doing that he's taking no notice of the strange stares he's getting from anyone.]
[...as Loki skates away, he notices that the device's whirring slows down when he moves further away. Curious, Loki stops -- and approaches Spengler from behind, listening for the clicks.]
[Egon's noticed the change in the device as well and he begins moving around from side to side to figure out which direction it's coming from. Soon he's turned around and facing the man who's following him. Without a word, he steps right up to him and the meter goes nuts, the whirring now a constant high-pitched buzz.
He gets right to the point.] Excuse me, but you're not human. Am I correct? [Unless the guy was possessed...]
[Gumshoe is out giving Missile a walk when he hears the whirs and clicks coming from somewhere in the vicinity. It almost reminds him of a metal detector of sorts. He glances around to see what's causing it and spots Egon intensely focused on some large device he's carrying. Then recognition of what that device might be hits Gumshoe.]
Oh wow, Doc! Is that the ghost detector thing you were making? Is it working?
[Egon looks up when he hears a familiar voice and smiles in greeting.]
Ah, good to see you again.
Yes, this is the PKE meter. It's actually working far better than I thought it would which is allowing me to pick up some very accurate readings. I should be able to figure out the nature of our imprisonment here. At least the basics.
[He's so focused on the readings that it takes him a moment to notice that he's being spoken to. He notes the man's odd appearance and immediately decides that he'd better do a scan. Without a word, Egon turns and points the device in the man's direction, waving it slowly up and down and noting the reading. When the device doesn't do anything exciting, Egon turns and continues scanning other objects.]
It's an invention of mine. It detects levels of psychokinetic energy.
[Egon what are you... are you scanning him? There'd better be a good explanation -- oh. There is. Okay.]
Oh I see. I imagine it's been going h-haywire around here, then. Um. But it wouldn't react to me, you see, I'm n-nowhere near psychokinetic, I'm j-just an. Aha. Mutant. There's rather a large difference.
[Egon is immediately impressed that he didn't have to give an explanation of psychokinetic energy and the science behind it and that garners the man Egon's attention and a little half-smile with slightly raised eyebrows.
He nods.] I've been attempting to study the molecular nature of this dimension and the environment isn't giving me much of anything, but the readings I've been getting off of some of the residents should prove extremely useful to my research.
And no, a mutant has nothing to do with molecular makeup and more to do with genetics. [Oh no, you got him started on science stuff. No going back now.]

...Maybe that's why I tend to mess up so much.

Oh! What have you got there?
[Egon, there is a man with incredibly fluffy hair and creepy white irises looking at you curiously. Wat do?]
