portland was fun! it's a neat city and was a fun long weekend. now i'm back in SF and not looking forward to going to work tomorrow.

go get a fancy dinner at beast. and go to powell's bookstore and be overwhelmed by books. otherwise, it's just a pretty chill city. what are you there for?

I'm there for American Physical Society's march meeting. 8000 condensed matter geeks and some good talks, but really not the lot of colleagues who will want to go exploring the city with me.

ah, yeah, that's kind of the drag about conferences...i'm going to boston in march for a week conferencing, and i'm kind of realizing "wait, boston is a city i don't actually know anyone in," which means only conference geeks to bum around with. :-/
