I finally got a chance to put this on my ereader and go back to the beginning of Toby and Elliot’s story. I know it’s taken me a while to come back, but it’s been worth the wait because all I can say is wow
( ... )
It has taken me a while to get to this, although I watched it build as you posted it.
Like sparrow, I have not seen either show, so I read this whole cast as OCs and they really worked as such.
I was grateful to you for filling in so much of Toby's backstory and I think I probably had a different appreciation of the story from not knowing any of it in advance. Because I found those things out basically at the same time as Elliott, the pacing was absolutely right for understanding the emotional reactions on both sides.
As always, it was the quality of the writing and characterisation that kept me reading, that started me on a story about characters I had no familiarity with. Altogether a really good read!
Omigawd, maz, I'm so sorry! I don't know how I missed this comment especially when you were being so awesome to me!
I'm so glad that it worked even if you didn't know the characters going in. I think it's one of the nice things about crossovers: there's time for readers to get to know the characters as they get to know each other. And since a large part of the story was about Toby's past unfolding for Elliot, I can see that it might work - but I'm glad to know the pacing and all that stuff held up.
Thank you so much, maz! I'm so sorry you slipped through the cracks! I feel like such a dick.
I know it's been years since you write this fic but I just wanted to tell you how much I loved it! This story was incredible and the build up was so well thought out and amazing. Thank you for writing this - 230 000 words of goodness. You made my weekend!
Ack, I'm so slow to reply, but thank you thank you!
It doesn't feel like years ago to me. These characters feel like people I was hanging out with a few months ago, though that could be because I hung out with them for so long :-D
Thank you solitudecoven! It feels so good that new people are stumbling across this.
