Chapter 3
That was it, Sam finally admitted it himself and Castiel figured it out himself. They stood there hugging each other for a while, unable to really think of anything to say. Finally Cas broke the silence, “I like you too Sam. I don’t know why I never thought of it until now but I do.” His voice was quiet but the words Sam heard, they stuck in his head and he went over them again and again. “Will you stay with me tonight? I need someone.” He whispered, Sam looking down at him as he weighed the decisions. This was one of the biggest moments of his life so far, not like he’d had many before. “Come stay with me at my house, it’s okay Dean won’t know.” He whispered, the smaller teenager nodding. “Let me get something from my room, wait for me right here.” He said quietly, unwrapping their arms from each other. Castiel climbed back up on the roof and through his window, getting a bag. He packed his pajamas and his cellphone with his charger; he climbed back out seeing Sam hadn’t moved an inch. Sam took his hand leading him to the impala and holding the door for him, he knew it was a quick decision but he wanted to make Castiel feel better and if it meant with him then that’s what he was going to get.
The drive was quick but Cas made a point to sit next to Sam and lay his head on his shoulder, the whole thing new for the younger Winchester. They snuck in through the backdoor, everyone thankfully asleep still. Sam led Castiel into his room, closing the door and locking it so no one could just barge in when the morning rolled around. Sam looked and saw him looking around his room at the posters from movies and TV shows, the bookshelves overfilled with worn out books, the Star Wars pillowcase, the closet full of his graphic t-shirts. “I love it.” He whispered finally, Sam looking at him in bewilderment. “Do you mind if I change in here? I want to put on my pajamas.” He asked quietly, Sam nodding quickly and turning around as he took off his own shoes and jacket. Castiel chuckled, used to changing in front of guys anyway for football guessing Sam wasn’t used to it. When he was done he came up behind the oversized teenager and wrapped his arms around him, laying his head on his back. Sam looked over his shoulder, “Do you wanna go to bed? I can sleep on the floor; I got a couple extra blankets in my closet…” He mumbled, not used to people being over. Castiel smiled, “Calm down, it’s okay. I don’t bite.” He whispered, unwrapping himself from him and taking his hand. He looked into his eyes, “We can lay down together, it’s not like we’re going to do anything.” He said reassuringly, wanting to sleep in Sam’s big warm arms so he felt safe. Sam got pink and nodded, still nervous anyway. He walked to his bed and laid down, hand hanging in Castiel’s. The quarterback smiled, laying next to him and tucking himself against his chest. Sam breathed quietly, covering them up and cautiously wrapping his arms around him. Cas nodded, yawning quietly and fitting himself in his arms. He poked a hole that was in Sam’s shirt making him giggle and Castiel chuckle. “Sleep, it’s okay Sam.” He whispered, lifting his head up and kissing him softly before tucking his head back down so he was comfortable drifting off to sleep quickly. Sam laid there, cheeks pink from the kiss as he watched his friend sleep in his arms. The scenario he’d thought about days after they met was here and Sam didn’t know what to do, “Sam relax.” Castiel woke up and whispered, not moving an inch but knowing Sam was tense. Sam took a deep breath and nodded, “Sorry.” He whispered, cautiously kissing the top of his head and relaxing. Sam fell asleep a few minutes later, Cas smiling and pulling him closer before drifting off to sleep again.
Mary woke up a little before eight, going to wake Sam up to help her cook breakfast. “Sam?” She asked quietly, knocking and trying the locked door. She got the key and opened the door slowly, walking and closing it behind her as she noticed someone in her younger son’s arms. She locked it again and walked to the side of the bed seeing they were just holding each other, putting her hand on Sam’s shoulder.“Sammy, sweetheart wake up.” She whispered, Sam opening his eyes slowly and seeing his mom before feeling Castiel nuzzle closer to his chest. His cheeks were red as he looked back up at his mom. Castiel slowly opened his eyes and yawned, looking over as he saw Mary and feeling his cheeks get red. “Sh, sh, sh, it’s okay. I’m not freaking out; I can see you guys were just sleeping.” Mary smiled, pulling Sam’s desk chair over and looking at them. “I’m guessing you’re Castiel.” She whispered, the small quarterback nodding and still clutching onto Sam for protection. Sam cleared his throat, Mary putting her finger up and keeping her soft smile. “I’ve heard a lot about you. All good I promise Sam adores you.” She said quietly, Sam’s cheek’s getting even redder as Castiel smiled and looked over at him. “Yeah I was stupid for not seeing it.” He said quietly, looking back at her. “I had a rough night last night, two of my brothers got killed in a break-in and Sam refused to not come over. So he came and I cried, a lot. I told him about the talk I had with Dean and then I realized it because of something he said.” He managed not to cry this time talking about Nick and Michael, Sam holding him closer helping. Mary put a hand on Castiel’s shoulder, “I’m so sorry. I know what it’s like to lose someone close.” She whispered, the small teenager nodding and putting his hand on hers as he looked at her face. Sam realized that in the two weeks Dean and Castiel had been dating that his brother hadn’t talked much about him but Sam told his mom enough to write a small book.
“I know it’s probably not my business but, what talk did you have with Dean?” She asked quietly, Sam just letting them talk as he closed his eyes. They moved their hands back slowly, Castiel looking at the half asleep Winchester next to him. “Well, yesterday I sort of made Sam come skip class with me and Dean was mad about it. He came to the ice cream place we were about to leave, we had a talk. He interrogated me about what we did and where we went, so I asked him about the rumors I’d heard that he was fooling around with this girl that goes to our school and he admitted to it. I called him after I dropped Sam off and he admitted it’d been more than once and with more than just one girl. I know he’s your son and you probably want to throw me out of your house now but I think I’m going to break up with him.” Mary didn’t do any of the things Castiel said; she nodded knowing that her son had bad habits just like her dad used to have. “Maybe he likes this girl too and he’s having a tough time trying to decide what he wants.” Cas looked at her and thought about it, nodding. “I think he likes her more.” He whispered, laying his head back against Sam’s chest. Mary looked at them and saw how happy Sam looked even though he was half asleep and completely embarrassed. She looked at Castiel and saw what her son did, wishing she could make it better for Sam somehow. “Castiel, will you spend family day with us? I’m sure it’ll make you feel better.” She smiled softly, Sam opening his eyes and looking at her. He wanted to be affectionate with Cas and he couldn’t with Dean around, wishing there was something tomfix it. Castiel smiled wide and nodded, “I’d love to. I’m going to have to tell Dean though; I don’t want tombe second to this girl. I like somebody else.” He whispered, looking at Sam and smiling. Mary smiled at her son and nodded, “You two be down in a few minutes and the three of us will make breakfast while Dean and your dad are still asleep.” Sam nodded, his mom putting his chair back as she left closing the door behind her. “You mean it?” He whispered, looking at Castiel who nodded instantly and kissed him again. He’d almost forgotten about the kisses, almost.
Sam put Castiel on his back, the two of them walking downstairs and smiling like kids at Christmas. Mary was in the kitchen getting the stuff out for pancakes and waffles with bacon. “Castiel you eat bacon right?” She asked from behind the fridge door, smiling as her son toted him around. Cas smiled and nodded, “Thank you Mrs. Winchester for letting me stay and having me for family day.” He said quietly, chin on Sam’s shoulder. Mary couldn’t help but smile wider at how happy the teenager made her younger son, nodding. “Anything to see Sam’s dimples like that again.” She said, getting out the pans and waffle maker. Castiel looked at Sam’s face, “I didn’t even know you had dimples. You need to smile more, they’re adorable.” He whispered, kissing his cheek. Sam blushed pink, “Thanks.” He said, Cas chuckling at how bashful he got. “Alright you two, let’s cook breakfast.” Sam put him down gently, walking to the island in the kitchen and mixing the waffle stuff. Mary helped Castiel with the pancakes, Sam watching with a smile liking how well they got along. Mary had Cas at the pan making perfect pancakes, the two of them smiling and laughing together as they cooked. Sam started on the waffles and once Mary taught her technique to Cas she was making bacon, the three of them making more than enough food for the household. “I’m going to give your dad his food because he’s still not allowed out of bed; you two go ahead and get your food first since you were so helpful.” Mary said, finishing up John’s plate and kissing both their cheeks before going to deliver her husband’s food. “I love your mom. I see where you get your sweetness.” Castiel smiled, standing on his tippy toes and kissing Sam’s cheek. Sam chuckled, “Yeah everyone says I’m a lot like my mom. We both have good taste I have to say.” He smiled at the quarterback and Cas blushed this time, getting himself a plate. Sam followed behind and got his food, the two of them sitting at the table right next to each other. Castiel took small bites and watched as Sam ate his huge bites, finishing his first waffle off. He chuckled, “You must eat your family out of house cause of all your growing.” Sam chuckled, shaking his head. “You won’t believe it but Dean actually eats a lot more than I do.” Castiel shrugging and smiling, “I can believe it.”
They shared a couple laughs, Mary walking in and sitting next to them. She told a few embarrassing stories about when Sam was a little kid, Dean drifting in a little after. At first he didn’t notice his boyfriend sitting at the table practically on top of his brother and giggling with his mom, he was too hungry. Once he was at the island piling his plate he noticed the table seeing his brother, his mom and Castiel in his pajamas. He walked to the table and sat across from his mom not as close as she was to them, looking at his boyfriend in confusion. Mary glanced at Sam and he glanced at Castiel who suddenly was looking at his plate wanting to hold Sam’s hand for support. “Cas what are you doing here? Did you stay the night?” He asked, looking at his brother now who cleared his throat and spoke. “Cas was having a bad night and he called me because he needed someone to talk to but he broke down so I drove to his house and he stayed here last night.” Sam left out the details, wanting to leave that up to Castiel. “Why didn’t you call me?” Dean didn’t know that everyone knew about the talk the teenagers had had yesterday. “Because Ruby, Dean.” Castiel finally said, looking at him and reaching under the table for Sam’s hand. He gave it to him willingly so he had support, Cas taking a deep breath and looking at each Winchester before settling on Dean. “I like you a lot but Ruby and Bela and Meg? All while I was at football practice or at football games, when you knew I couldn’t stop you or find out. I can’t come after all these girls, I found someone who likes just me.” He said quietly, the words hurting him more than Dean. The older Winchester nodded and looked at his plate, “I can’t say I didn’t see it coming but I think it’s best. I shouldn’t have done it but I like Ruby, a lot more than I thought I would. So we’re okay, just friends?” Dean asked him, not wanting the awkward feeling around him. Castiel took a deep breath, looking at Sam who smiled at him reassuringly. “Of course we can be friends Dean, you’re a good guy.” He smiled at him knowing he had Sam now and that Dean was good, he’s just a confused teenager. Dean chuckled, “I’m just a very hormonal guy.” He smiled, Mary scoffing and laughing. “Don’t have to tell me twice.” She smiled, the table giggling with her even Dean. They ate breakfast like that; full of laughs and embarrassing stories about the boys when they were little which always made Castiel laugh. “Movie marathon time!” Mary announced, having a secret line up already ready to go. Dean laid across the couch, Sam and Castiel sharing the smaller loveseat which neither minded. Mary sat in her overstuffed chair playing the first movie which was Peter Pan, Sam and Dean’s favorite movie as kids. Mary smiled, the living room as dark as they could make it for the movie theatre effect. “This was Sam and Dean’s favorite as a kid, I remember for Halloween when we all dressed up. Sam wanted to be Michael cause he was so little and Dean got to be Peter then John was Captain Hook and I was Wendy.” She said, smiling and chuckling. Sam’s cheeks got red as he started remembering the pink footie pajamas he wore and the teddy bear he carried around, Dean laughed remembering the green tights. “I remember the wedgies from that outfit.” Dean chimed in, everyone getting quiet as the movie started after laughing at Dean’s misfortune. Castiel leaned against Sam and held his hand, Sam wrapping an arm around him.
Castiel liked family day with the Winchesters, Dean would make sly funny comments about their connection to the movie and Mary would tell a story that would make Sam blush. He stayed nuzzled against Sam, liking that the younger Winchester could finally show him how he felt. The second and third movies were Sam and Dean’s individual favorite horror movie. Dean’s was The Shining and Sam liked The Evil Dead which he stood up for when Dean tried to make fun of how ridiculous Bruce Campbell was. Mary made them all sandwiches for lunch which was right after The Evil Dead, Castiel going upstairs to make sure his parents got the note he left them. “Hey Sammy?” Dean asked, looking over the edge of the couch. Sam looked at his brother and blinked slowly, “Yeah?” Dean smiled at him, getting up to talk to him. “I know you’ll treat him better than I did.” He whispered, Sam freezing up. “What are you talking about?” He tried to act like he didn’t know and it made Dean chuckle. “Baby brother, you may think that I can’t read you but when it comes to Cas you are an open book.” He smiled, patting his back gently. “I know I was an asshole for cheating on him but I think that Ruby is right formme now, I was dumb for dragging them both around like that. I know you’ll do better, you already are.” He said quietly, Sam’s face full of confusion. “This is my blessing you big moose, take it.” Dean smiled, watching his brother’s confusion melt away and a smile come across his face. “Thank you Dean.” He whispered, hugging him. Dean jumped back on the couch when their mom walked back in the kitchen to get everyone else’s food and Castiel walked downstairs, Mary giving everyone their plates and a kiss on the top of the head. Cas fit back against Sam and started taking small bites of his sandwich as Back to the Future started. “This is my favorite.” Castiel whispered to Sam, smiling and remembering he had a poster on his wall for it.
Sam and Castiel stayed close like that during all three parts of Back to the Future, Cas playing with Sam’s hands like a little kid while they watched the third part. Mary got up before the movie ended collecting the plates and smiling at her younger son glad to see him so happy, getting them all snacks for the next couple movies. “Dean, what snack do you want? I already know Sam wants his chips and Castiel, what about you?” She asked from the kitchen after delivering her husband some saltines and juice, the credits rolling on the screen. Sam chuckled at his mom always knowing what he wanted, Dean nibbling on his lip. “Pretzels and cheese, I want cheese. Do we have cheese?” He asked, popping his head up like a meerkat and looking at his mom in the kitchen. Mary chuckled and nodded, “Yes Dean we have cheese. Castiel, anything you want?” Dean looked over at his brother and ex-boyfriend, chuckling as he finally looked up from Sam’s hands. “Huh? Oh, I’ll just share with Sam.” He said quietly, Sam giggling. “Glad we have more than one bag. I go through those things like crazy.” He chuckled, Mary smiling. She made herself some popcorn and got Dean’s pretzels, waiting for the microwave to finish her popcorn so she could warm up his cheese. She poured chips in a big bowl for Sam and Castiel, handing it to them before scurrying to her popcorn. She finished her and Dean’s snacks, walking back to the living room. “Yes, cheese.” Dean said, smiling wide and dipping some of his pretzels in cheese.
Mary started the next movie, Men in Black Dean and Sam laughing together. Cas was confused, looking at Sam. “When this movie came out, Dean begged John to take them to go see it and I refused because I didn’t think they were old enough so he put on a big trench coat and they hid inside of it holding onto their dad’s arms. I can’t believe I didn’t notice.” Mary chuckled, Castiel smiling and shaking his head. The movie started everyone munching on their different snacks, Dean humming with almost every bite of cheese and eventually getting shushed by his mom. Cas had never seen Men in Black before, liking that he got to watch it with Sam and laugh with him at every joke. Castiel already planned to stay the night again since it was well past eight, knowing that he felt better not thinking about Michael and Nick. Mary smiled, “You guys wanna order pizza or go get tacos?” She asked pausing the movie once she realized they’d hadn’t had dinner yet. “Tacos, I called it let’s go.” Dean said quickly, cheese all over his face as he sat up. They all put their snacks down, standing up. “Tacos in pajamas Dean?” Cas asked, smiling. The older Winchester shrugged, “Makes it better Cas, just you wait.” He cracked his smile and Mary grabbed her keys, “You’re dad is out, I left his snacks on his nightstand but I’ll get him something anyway.” She said, holding the door for everyone and locking it behind Sam since he was last. Dean climbed in shotgun, Sam and Castiel sitting in the back a little squished but not minding. Mary drove them to the taco place, everyone calling their order out of the window before she pulled up. Once they had their food Sam looked over at Castiel and smiled, “I bet tacos in pajamas are delicious.” He said quietly. Cas chuckled, looking at him and shaking his head. “You Winchesters are silly.” Mary laughing, “All except me, I’m totally sane. They get it from their dad.” Castiel smiled, giving Sam’s hand a squeeze and leaning against him slightly as they drove. “Mind if I stay again?” He whispered only loud enough for him to hear. Sam smiled, “I’d be offended if you didn’t.” He whispered back, chuckling.
When they were all settled back at home with their tacos and snacks back in front of the screen, Mary played the movie. Not much was heard over the occasional crunching of hard shell tacos munching in one of their mouths, Castiel nodding as he finished one taco. “I think you guys are right, tacos are better in pajamas.” He smiled, Dean nodding and chuckling. “I’m always right when it comes to food, it’s my specialty.” Mary laughing as she sipped on her soda shaking her head, “Don’t encourage them.” They’d all finished halfway through the movie, trash neat in the bag and all picking at their snacks every once and a while Dean the most. “There’s one last movie after this then bed.” She said, watching the screen everyone quiet and Castiel holding Sam’s hand between his again. The credits rolled and Mary started the last movie, Singin’ in the Rain Sam’s secret favorite musical. Dean wouldn’t admit it but he liked this movie, he remembered when they watched it when he was little with Sam as a baby. Castiel hadn’t seen this movie either but he saw the way that Sam’s face lit up as the movie started and he knew he’d like it, leaning up and kissing his cheek. Sam blushed, looking down at him and smiling. Sometimes he would sing along in a hushed tone, Castiel liking the way he sang and listening whenever he sang along.
Once the musical ended, Mary packed up all the movies and put them in their appropriate places in their collection while Dean threw away the taco trash and Sam and Castiel cleaned up the snacks. Dean ate all the pretzels and cheese, Sam and Castiel finishing off the chips minus some crumbs half of Mary’s popcorn still left. They wrapped it up and Dean took Cas aside, “I wanna talk to the football star for a minute.” He said quietly as his brother stared at them, nodding slowly and going to the living room to help his mom clean up. He fixed up the couch, glancing at the two boys talking out of the corner of his eye and wondering what they were doing. Mary thanked him, “I’m happy for you Sam, I’ve never seen you like this. You’re lighting up like a Christmas tree.” She whispered, hugging him gently and standing on her toes to kiss his forehead. Sam smiled at his mom, “Thanks for putting up with me and giving me good advice.” He said quietly, pushing up his glasses. Mary nodded, “You’re still my little boy, and it’s my job to take care of you.” She smiled, turning him around and scooting him out of the living room so they could all go to bed. Castiel smiled and nodded, “Got it.” He said quietly to Dean as Mary and Sam got there. Dean hugged his mom, “Let’s see if dad’s still a zombie.” He smiled, going off to see his dad with Sam, Castiel looking at Mary. She smiled, hugging him gently and kissing his cheek. “I’m not gonna be overprotective, you can get that from John over breakfast.” She smiled wide, going back to her bedroom as her sons came back. “He’s feeling better, lame.” Dean mumbled, walking upstairs. “Night everyone, I’m going into a cheese coma.” He waved.
Sam looked at Castiel once they were alone, the younger Winchester leaning over and kissing him softly. “C’mon bed.” He smiled, holding his hand and walking upstairs to his bedroom. He closed and locked the door again, Sam laying in bed first. Castiel smiled, checking and seeing the okay message from his mom on his phone. He climbed into Sam’s arms and nuzzled in close to his chest again. “So what did Dean tell you?” Sam asked quietly, looking at him. Cas chuckled, “He told me that if I break his baby brother’s heart that he’ll personally kill me slowly and painfully. Then he gave me his blessing.” He smiled, looking up at him. Sam smiled, “That’s Dean.” He chuckled, Castiel leaning up and kissing him. “I loved today and I loved spending time with you, hearing about your childhood from your mom. You’ve made me feel all better.” He whispered, Sam smiling and feeling his dimples sink in his cheeks. “Of course, anything to make you feel better.” He said quietly, looking into his eyes. Cas pushed his glasses up, smiling and laying his head back down. “My big oaf.” He whispered, smiling and yawning. Sam chuckled, “My tiny quarterback.” He mumbled with a yawn, “Time for bed. You get to meet my dad in the morning. You’ll need all the sleep you can get.” He chuckled quietly. Castiel smiled, “You gonna protect me just in case?” He asked, closing his eyes. Sam smiled, “I’ll always protect you.” He mumbled, starting to doze off. "Night Sammy.” Cas whispered to the already asleep teenager he was attached to, sliding his glasses off for him and putting them on the nightstand before nuzzling back into his chest. He fell asleep after him, warm and safe in Sam’s arms again.
The next morning Sam woke up on his own, looking at Castiel and smiling small. He watched him sleep for a minute before a rough voice broke the silence, “Quit watching me.” The seemingly asleep quarterback mumbled to Sam. Sam’s cheeks got pink and he smiled, making Cas peek his eyes open to look. “What time is it?” He asked in the same voice that dripped with sleep. Sam glanced over and squinted as he tried to read his alarm clock, “God you really can’t see can you?” He chuckled, pecking him on the cheek and reaching over to get his glasses. He slid them on Sam’s face and smiled, “Better Velma?” Sam gave him a bitch face that didn’t last long against Castiel’s smirk. “It’s almost nine.” He said, face getting softer. Cas nodded and nuzzled back in his chest, “I’m gonna sleep more.” He mumbled, yawning and falling back asleep. Sam nodded, watching him before yawning himself. Dean knocked on his brother’s door in the annoying rhythm of what Sam could piece together as a part of ‘Heat of the Moment’ and made him groan. “Go away.” He grumbled, pulling the blanket higher. “Rise and shine Sammy! Dad wants to talk to you.” Dean smirked, waiting outside the door for his little brother and his boyfriend. Castiel sighed, “Better face it now, better than later.” He mumbled, kissing his chest and pulling his head back as he sat up slowly. Sam rolled on his back and watched Castiel stretch before sitting up next to him, “Alright, then let’s go and have one of the most uncomfortable breakfasts of our lives.” He chuckled, kissing him. Castiel smiled, holding his hand and looking into his eyes. Dean knocked again but this time he sang along, sticking with Asia. Sam and Cas both sighed again before chuckling. They got out of bed, Sam opening the door quickly and moving over as Dean stumbled. He played it off and smiled, “Breakfast is ready and Dad is finally not a zombie.” He said, leading them downstairs.
Castiel did get nervous as he got closer to the table, squeezing Sam’s hand once he saw the back of John’s head and Mary smiling at him from the kitchen. Dean slid down the bannister the rest of the way, finishing his song of the day and walking to his seat at the table. Sam and Castiel stood at the bottom of the stairs, Mary motioning toward them so her husband would get up. John put his coffee mug down and turned around before getting up, looking at Cas who was trying not to look as nervous and uncomfortable as he was. “So this is Castiel.” He said quietly, voice just a little strained from the last of the sick. Sam looked at his dad and then over at Castiel, smiling reassuringly. “Yes sir. I’m Castiel Novak.” He reached his hand out, John chuckling and shaking it slowly. “Nice to finally meet you, Mary’s told me about you.” He let go of his hand and looked up at Sam before looking back at Cas, “So you gonna ask if you can date my son?” He asked, smiling. Castiel’s mouth got dry, looking at Sam before looking over at John. “Uh, yes sir.” He said nervously, confused by John. John chuckled and nodded, “Alright, make your case then boy.” Sam sighed and sat on the bottom step, waiting for his dad to go easy on Cas. Castiel stood there feeling everyone but Sam’s eyes on him, getting the same anxious feeling he got before football try-outs when he felt like he needed to say and do the right thing. “Mr. Winchester, I was hoping I would be fortunate enough to date your son Sam. I really like him and I promise that I will treat him right.” He said quietly, looking into John’s eyes. John sipped his coffee and nodded, “What do you like about him?” He asked, the whole thing just doing it to mess with him. Cas blinked slowly, his mind filling with a lot of things. “I like how funny he is and how caring he is. I think he’s really smart and talented and he has a tendency to gush about the people he loves. Like you or Mrs. Winchester or Dean. And apparently me too.” He smiled, blushing pink and clearing his throat. “He’s just…I like him, a lot for every reason.” He said, looking at Sam.
John looked between Castiel and Sam, smiling wide. Mary sat next to her husband and smiled, resting her chin on his shoulder. Sam hadn’t noticed his parents staring as he looked at Cas, Dean finally breaking the silence with a chuckle. “You guys are gonna make me throw up.” John chuckled after him and nodded, “Alright, I guess you can date Sam as long as the moose is okay with it.” He smiled at his son and went back to his breakfast, Sam getting up. He hugged Castiel and they didn’t hold it long, Sam’s stomach rumbling already. They sat at the table and made their breakfast from what Dean had apparently made, John deciding it was his turn to embarrass Sam in front of Cas. He told him about the time when he was three and they were camping, Sam putting up his hand. “You are not telling the camping story.” He said, giving his dad a look. Dean laughed, “C’mon Dad, let’s see Sam get embarrassed.” John chuckled and nodded, “Well when we were camping, it was just me and the boys. I was putting up the tent and I made them collect sticks. Sam came back first with one stick and he was doing the potty dance.” He smiled, Sam’s face hidden in his hands. “He kept saying ‘Daddy I have to go potty!’ and I kept telling him ‘You gotta just hold it a minute Sammy, I gotta put our tent up.’ I remember the next thing I knew Sam was peeing on a tree in front of a bunch of other campers and Dean was laughing on the ground next to the pile of sticks he’d gotten.” John and Dean looked at each other, laughing uncontrollably. Mary shook her head with a smile, remembering when they came home and told her. Castiel chuckled, leaning against Sam and smiling. “I can top that.” He said as the laughter died down slightly.
“When I was four my brother Gabriel had pulled this prank on the whole house. He poured laxative in the milk and watched us all drink it knowing we only had three bathrooms for the eleven of us drinking it. I remember since I was so little I couldn’t beat anyone to a bathroom so I ended up in the backyard. It was not pretty.” He chuckled, John and Dean erupting into laughter again. Sam uncovered his face and smiled, kissing him. The rest of breakfast was filled with the last of laughter and John asking Castiel more questions. After breakfast was over, Mary and John invited Cas to join the rest of them on their Sunday morning drive to see Uncle Bobby. Castiel was sort of flustered, he felt so welcome in their family with being invited to family day and having breakfast and hearing embarrassing stories about Sam
as a kid and now being invited to go on a weekly visit to their uncle. He smiled and nodded, “I’d love to.” Everyone went their ways to get dressed, Cas feeling happy and smiley the whole time upstairs. Sam closed the door and walked to his closet, “I’d offer some of my clothes but they might be a little big.” He shrugged, looking at him with a chuckle. Castiel walked up to him and kissed him, hugging him after. “This is probably the best weekend I’ve ever had.” He chuckled quietly. Sam smiled back at him and nodded, “I already know this is the best weekend of my life.”
