Lessons learned

My first live set was interesting. I'm not much of a ham, so playing out is kind of stressful, I discovered, as I'd expected. nonduality from earth-dog: enjoyed this bit because it reminds me of my last live performance at the Jeff Buckley tribute in SF 2003. Also found many of the same things. Nervousness much more than seemed reasonable. Time speeds up. Things break down. Management / promoters have their own agendas which should be ignored. Didn't find that anger improves technique though. Found that anger must be resolved somehow rather than resorting to murder.... I must play the wrong kind of music!!!

Regarding anger, I found it helped me focus. I wasn't super pissed, and most of the anger was not aimed at a particular person (though the sound guy - who is a sarcastic fucker, and who I like in everyday life and have much respect for, regardless - was pissing me off a little). So the peppering of anger narrowed my focus, let me ignore the audience and everything else, and channel my emotions into the music, which is pretty highly charged with violent anti-JHVHan sentiment. Maybe I'd get the same effect from coccaine.
