I will never understand how my mother can awake to face the day each morning knowing that she has two daughters living in a different state than she, who are grown up, and whom she has never been there for nor seen them go through anything. I honestly don't know how the woman can face each day she wakes up. I would like to know how she does it,

My mom was never around either, but she lived on the same street as me and wasn't interested. She eventually changed her mind. She got involved about the time I graduated. Maybe your's will too. Don't be so sad.
