Well if you've done them a lot already, and you've only had one bad trip...you should understand that not all experiences end up like that.
To prevent a bad trip from happening again, you have to analyze why you think you had a bad trip last time. Was there something on your mind? Was someone with you that you didn't particularly like or that you didn't want there? Did something happen to cause you fear or anxiety that night?
To kill a bad trip, you have to analyze again why you're having a bad trip...and what thoughts are going through your head that make you think you're not having fun. It's also more common to get bad trips off wet shrooms...so try to score some well dryed ones this time.
There isn't a sure fire way to kill a bad trip, you just have to find the source of the problem and remedy it, or find something that you really enjoy to distract yourself from it.
I'd give yourself some time to recover from the bad trip and make lower your dosage. You'll probably be a little nervous going into your next trip but try to stay optimistic about it. Treat each trip as a separate and new experience.
As for saving yourself from a bad trip... make sure you are prepared before you start tripping: organize a safe place to trip with a designated driver/chaperon, set out water and movies/music that you'll want, and roll a few joints. If I'm having a bad trip I'll listen to Radiohead and lay down in a comfortable place until things start coming together.
Meh. A few nights ago I did acid for the first time and it was overall a really shitty experience. Most likely I'll do it again in a few weeks when I go camping because I know so many people who have had such a good time doing it, and I think it's probably worth another shot. Also, at the time I was pretty depressed, so that probably made it a lot worse, and I'm trying to keep that in mind.
