Clothes make the shitty jobs

Yesterday I had a nice shirt on... left the lab a nightmare in Opalux Butterscotch. Today, my best pants, and I left soaked in crystal violet. I never have these problems when I'm wearing old/not as loved clothes. I'm gonna have to start wearing black jeans and t-shirts a la Slawomir and then I'm sure I'll get all the clean and tidy testing. Of ( Read more... )

I almost always wear jeans and sneakers to work now, and you will frequently find me sporting a t-shirt. I love being an Engineer!! Electronics do not respect button-down shirts and ties. I have found that they do respect the long hair and beard, however. :-D

One question: if you are working around chemicals all day (and I presume wearing protective gear, or at least a lab coat/smock/frock), then why would jeans be against the dress code? It isn't like you are doing administrative, marketing, or managerial work... Stupid corporate rules.

Yeah... it's a business casual dress code. I'm not sure why. Jeans/tshirts not allowed. I could get scrubs if I want (production/janitorial staff get the uniforms) but white pants have never been my favorite.
