I have been thinking about perfection lately. This was spurred by the observations of one of my regular training partners. Excellent discoveries-- I quite like the connection between what we (moderns, Americans) call "habit" and what the anonymous master calls "fearful action".

As for perfection-- remind me to spend some time (just a few minutes, really) next Saturday, talking with you about my vision of The Perfect Art. Hmmm....My two cents. I do not believe in perfection. I just try to be a little better than before. As for patience, do you know that I have never won a tournament. Ever. I have come in second or third I have even been embarrassed about my performance on the field, but never first.Yet I still play the game. After this last practice I actually felt centered. That feeling that, perhaps for once, I may be beginning to comprehend. Not that I beat you, for I did not, but that I was able to make you miss once or twice. That to me was an accomplishment. I felt content that I had progressed. I will not feel that way now until I have done better. I wish that I had your drive. Perhaps I will talk to you about patience, and you can talk to me about drive. Hope to see you on Monday.
