Dear Senator,

--I was just sitting here contemplating about how, as a Reservist, if I show up to all of my drill weekends and annual tours (that's the 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks a year you hear about on the tv commercials), thereby meeting all of my commitments to my country; My country then turns around and STEALS 3 of the retirement points I earned by meeting that commitment.

--This is based solely and arbitrarily on the fact that I enlisted prior to Sept 96.  Why that date?  Who knows, but everyone who came in prior to that date gets punished by earning less than what is owed for what are *minimum* commitments.  Obviously, this isn't just me, but *every* reservist who shows up and does what he is told, in service to his country, but happens to fall into this pre-Sept 96 category.

--You can check all of this with the military representative of your choosing, and it will be confirmed - or you could look at the laws that Congress has written that mandate this punishment.  Post 9/11 recruits don't have this problem, apparently folks in Congress who write the laws cared enough about them to fix this law - but only for them - and not us who were already here standing ready to serve when the planes hit us.  Why has Congress slighted us so?

--And what are you going to do about it?
