Well I'm just at my dads.. and I got a compuer here. A special computer with a special CANADIAN keyboard. See in this context "canadian" refers to frenchie or bilingual keyboard. Hmm... when I had that problem there was an icon on my screen that asked me if I wanted to change my default language to English (US) and I clicked on that. Now I've had the computer for so long that the icon went away and I don't remember where to find it, but maybe if you go to your basic computer settings area and try to find it?
