By saying it couldn’t be that difficult a task, Kensei clearly hasn’t taken into account that New York City - despite having street numbers and signs to guide him - has taken its layout ideas from the Minotaur’s labyrinth. He should have been fairly used to this by now, he’s seen busy streets back in England, along with villages of Japan filled with old and young, going about their lives. But the sheer amount of people in New York, in Rockefeller center alone is enough for four, maybe even five villages. Probably more than that, even, but he doesn’t bother to take note. Already is he feeling dizzy from the combination of lights, banners, advertisements, stenches, and car horns, no need to throw fact of huge masses on top of that. He reminds himself of what he’s doing this for, how badly he wants it, and how to get there, repeating it like a mantra in his mind.
Following the street signs, while using directions from a man with a mustache and a heavy accent, Kensei eventually makes it through several crowds without losing anything out of his pockets, and even manages to not get himself hit by a car. Although… that doesn’t mean there weren’t several extremely close calls. Automobiles, as they were called, were a mix between a wonder, and a source of wary, something he’d have to look at better, when he had enough time to. Even though two hours seems like plenty, if not more than enough time, that isn’t taking into account that the samurai hadn’t roamed the city alone, just yet. Meaning distractions and annoyances abound.
After all that, finally finding his destination, Kensei sighs along with vowing to find a way to hire a ‘taxi’ automobile next time, before stepping into Molly's Pub & Shabeen. Adam wasn’t lying to say it felt a bit like home. Not completely, seeing as there were still modern devices scattered about, but certainly more home-like than anything outside its doors. Breaking out into something of a relieved expression, he takes a seat somewhere close to the door, and hoping he isn’t too late, too early, or just plain in the wrong location.
