Okay so I got a tiny update today. I probably should have saved this for when I had more drawings, but whatever I am posting them now SO HOW ABOUT THAT.
Inside: follow along as Kory teaches herself how to draw horse foals! TURNS OUT THEY'RE HARD TO DRAW.
These drawings are all a little messier and looser than what I usually end up with, but I was learning how to draw these jerks so there was a lot of experimenting. If you read this clockwise from the first unfinished sketch at the top you can kind of see how the learning progressed. The two in the top left corner I drew after taking a break from drawing the other ones because these stupid legs were starting to PISS ME OFF if you couldn't tell. I don't normally write abusive things to my own drawings as I'm drawing them but these stupid things were making me mad.
Here's where I sorta got the hang of it (or took enough of a break from the previous page and calmed down a bit, your choice). The whole point of this bullshit is that I wanted to draw Ike's stupid half-brother Cy and realized that "Wait a sec I have no idea how baby horses work". TURNS OUT THEY ARE 75% LEGS, WHO KNEW.
I'm trying to figure out buggane arms, so all these doodles are works-in-progress and subject to change. It would be easier to just make the front legs more like human arm anatomy, as I've done before (and as
fishbulb33 originally designed), but despite my bitchings, horses (and other hoofed critters) have really interesting foreleg anatomy and I wanted to try to work that in. It's still a bit clunky.
And then we have Cy being his obnoxious spazzy self. I promise I will make some kid characters that aren't obnoxious spazzy kids at some point. Just not right now. Also there's a Colin, partially to show size-comparison and partly because I haven't drawn Colin in awhile and he and Cy are BFFs eventually. Also Ike holding Cy because Cy demands it.
In other news: freaky shape-shifting water horses are pretty great. I need to jam some more English mythology into Skin Deep. I don't have nearly enough freaky shape-shifting water horses or giant black demon dogs. I should probably throw some elves and fairies into the mix too, but good lord do I not care about elves and fairies. Or trolls. Or goblins.
AND THAT WAS "LEARNING HOW TO DRAW FREAKIN' HORSE BABIES" WITH KORY B.
