Tonight, in what I would call a rare instance, I really and truly needed someone to talk to. It didn't really matter about what; I just wanted to have a voice on the end of the line. I call this a rare instance because, over the last six years that I've been sick, I've become something of a loner. I've gradually learned to internalize most of my ( Read more... )

I'm glad you decided I was still worth a call. I'm sorry I missed it. I was playing poker with my co-workers, which we do every Wednesday after the restaurant closes. My phone was on vibrate. I checked the message during a quick break but didn't have time for a real conversation, and by the time the game was over it was 3am and I had to get to bed for work this morning. I was planning on calling you this evening or tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get a hold of you then. Please don't think you've alienated me or pushed me away or anything. We had that issue at one time and we resolved it. That's ancient history. I consider you a good friend. Anyway, these days I'm the one who sucks at returning calls. I'm going to try to get better about that. Talk to you soon.

It might not be much, but if you post it here, I'll read it.

That's one thing I've always appreciated about LiveJournal. It's the human connection that I sometimes can't get otherwise.

That means something, there are a lot of people- closer friends, most- who just won't bother. I appreciate being read.

You're right about LJ occasionally filling in for sometimes faltering or altogether absent connections elsewhere. Every once in a while, LJ turns out to be just what you needed it to be, when you're not even expecting it.
