Melatonin

Have to give a big thanks to thatjen for commenting that my bad dreams may be due to melatonin.  I've been taking it for a month or so and it hasn't helped my sleep at all.  After her comment I did some research and found that vivid dreams is a common side effect. I also found that in some cases it can make sleep issues WORSE! Which may have been the case ( Read more... )

Oh yeah melatonin can be bad. I don't know if you ever mentioned it, as i admit i scan sections sometimes. I had the same problem, only took it 3 or 4 times and had the worst nightmare of my life. Had to wake up chris and make sure everything was ok, and i've never had to do that. Then i was afraid to sleep again until the sun was coming up.

Thanks for the yoga mention on instant queue. I'm really interested but the one class i went to made me feel so crappy. But then again, i was very pregnant with zoe at the time. Maybe more practice will make an actual class easier.

I've been doing the "Yoga for Health: Aches & pains" one on Netflix the last two days and I really like it. It's just enough of a challenge that I feel like I'm doing something, but not TOO much.

I don't think I mentioned the melatonin at all, Jen just mentioned it in reply to my post about the strange dreams and it kinda "clicked" that that could be why. I take so many different things and try so many different ones, hoping they will help various things - and so few really do help.

Oh, and i've been told that if melatonin doesn't work for you, valerian root will. I see your friend mentioned that too, but i also have never tried it. After those dreams i wasn't keen on trying something else for a while.

Yeah, I'm not too keen on trying any new supplements for a while either. I have my appt with Dr. Wilson tomorrow, my Fibro doc said that if she (Dr. Wilson) doesn't send me for a sleep study that he's going to, unless we find some way to improve the situation.

The only real difference without the melatonin is the crazy dreams. I still wake up after a few hours and then just sleep off an on the rest of the night (really just dozing in and out).
