I was coming here to post that I'm thinking about moving my blog to Google+, then I got here and encountered ads and issues logging in, and got annoyed, and now i'm even more set to move.  If you aren't on Google+ yet, reply with your email and I'll send you an invite ( Read more... )

From the video tour, I thought G+ was aimed more at mobile users?

I get the issue with LJ's ads, but then, there's more than one reason I use Firefox with AdBlock, NoScript, and RequestPolicy.

I'd be willing to try G+ but don't short someone who's more eager if you're limited. I did finally create a Google Profile and linked up a bunch of accounts. Not sure I'm happy with the way Yahoo displays Facebook info; I guess the only stuff that's showing is posted with a "public" level, but I can't tell by looking, and it makes me nervous that I might be revealing someone else's posts when they don't actually want them public. Yahoo's being kind of clunky.

G+ is good for mobile or web. Their mobile app is pretty decent, but I've mostly played with it on the web. To me G+ seems much bettr about being able to choose who you want to see what, whether it's profile info or your actual posts. I'll send you an invite and you can see what you think.

ugh - once more with LJ acting up, not just the ads but not wanting to keep me logged in.

unfortunately google+ "security" is just an illusion, the made groups on FB give you much finer control and there have already been a number of issues of g+ allowing your friends to share YOUR content in ways you didn't expect. this is a design decision made by google.

they don't care more about your security than fb, in fact it is the opposite, just go read google's mission statement.

Hmm.. you got me thinking. The re-share feature does pretty much allow anyone to reshare anything that you made visible to them, thus making what I meant to be visible only to one or two people now available to anyone they may choose to share it with.

Let's not forget this is still in beta, and not a finished product yet. That's why it's invite only to get the kinks out.

These aren't kinks, they are fundamental design decisions. Every time someone gets all happy with google I like to remind them of this:

"Google's mission is to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful."

Now ask yourself, useful to whom?

Were you going to move your livejournal blog to Google+ or something else? I don't like social media and hate getting on any new platform, so I'm waiting to switch or get started on Google+ until most of my friends move there (so far only about 10 people have gone to Google+).

I was thinking about moving my LJ blog to G+, since it's so easy to control exactly who reads what. So many of my entries any more are friends only (or even private entries), and moving it there would mean one less place to keep up with (although I'd still want to check in here to see what everyone else is up to).

So far, I haven't done it, maybe I won't. But, I am liking G+. I like the atmosphere overall. I've ended up following several people I don't know (but I don't have to share with them if I don't want to) and I find some of the things people share quite interesting. You should at least go ahead and sign up and check it out - heck I'm there :) Let me know if you need an invite.
