Sleep Study

Had an appointment with a Sleep Doc on Thursday (finally) and he set me up for a Sleep Study. They happened to have an opening on Friday night so I went ahead and took it rather than waiting another month and risking something happening to keep the study from being done on this year's insurance cycle.

I posted a full account on my Fibro Blog

It's good you don't have sleep apnea!!! I suspect both my mom and boyfriend have it, but neither of them seems to want to do anything about it. At one point I had this Body Media Go Wear Fit/Bodybugg (it's what everyone on "The Biggest Loser" wears to count calories), and you can wear it to sleep to track your quality of sleep. Of all of my problems, sleep isn't one of them, and the device said my sleep quality was fine. However, my boyfriend's graph was a mess - it showed him waking up every hour, and he's always exhausted.

Anyway, when my first cat got sick, my boyfriend woke me up early each morning to give her medication, and that entire two months I had the worst tired/cramping feeling in my legs. A few days after she died the cramping went away, only to return the following week when I had to wake up every day to give the second sick cat medication. So even though I still slept 8-9 hours, it was the waking up halfway through that totally messed me up. In conclusion, I hope you can find a way to sleep better!!!

I think sleep (or the lack thereof) has a lot to do with the pain issues. I've thought for a long time that it's the lack of sleep that leads to the pain (and not the other way around) - the Drs can't seem to agree.

Might have to look into that Body thingie.

This is the Bodybugg thing - http://www.amazon.com/BodyMedia-Weight-Management-Solution-Armband/dp/B0044ZAF0C/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top . I ended up buying it, using it for a month (while the online membership was free), and then I sold it on Ebay for more than I paid for it on Amazon!

It tells you the quality/efficiency of your sleep, but I'm not sure if it can tell which sleep cycle you're in, like an actual sleep study. And if you already know you aren't sleeping well, I'm not sure how much good it would do, but it does show you a daily graph of your sleeping patterns, etc. Mine showed me sleeping through the night, but my boyfriend's showed him not sleeping more than an hour at a time. And of course it estimates how many calories you're burning, and how much exercise you're getting.
