Note: I am not a lawyer and do not know how effective or legal this is, but if for some reason it becomes important I want a record of this.

This is a notification of partial acceptance of your user contract for Verizon FiOS internet service. To the point where it is a legal contract, I accept it, however to the point where it is a contract that gives all powers to the first party (Verizon) and none to the customer ([name redacted]), I am notifying you of a rejection of certain of your provisions.
Your contract a) is entirely one-sided and b) does not take into account certain realities of the situation as it pertains to the internet. All devices connected to the internet function variously as both server and client. It simply makes no sense and violates common sense and common usage to include language in your contract forbidding the use of a computer as a. It is a thoughtless, cover-your-ass restriction that is both biased against the consumer and ignores the current realities of technology.
I reject the following part of section 4.3, Restrictions on Use: "You also may not ... use the Service to host any type of server." I fully intend to use your service to occasionally run devices as both server and client, such as, but not limited to: 1) the Rovio mobile web camera and 2) secure shell server on my home computer.
The other restrictions in the contract are acceptable, and I look forward to a mutually beneficial internet service relationship.
Note: I am also including a copy of this letter to the FCC.
Sincerely,
[name redacted]
New Verizon FiOS Customer
