My going away party on Saturday turned out to be FANTASTIC! There was a really good turnout and I got to see lots of people I don't normally get to!
Preceding the going away party, I had to go to Elise's graduation FROM COLLEGE. My little sister has graduated college before me...how much do I feel like a loser? (nah, not really, I'm going at the pace I need to)
(The "HOORAY FOR EVERYTHING" cake)
At 5pm we had my uncle and aunt come over for a sort of pre-party party to more celebrate for Elise before my friends showed up. My aunt and uncle ended up staying VERY late into my party though - apparently they wanted to see my friends show up and see what would happen.
Like every party, no one really showed up on time (except for Lena who showed up exactly on time, and Jess and Nate who were early due to friend & boyfriendly obligation to be there early). Even when other people eventually started showing up it was a LITTLE slow and awkward, BUT thankfully Paul (!) brought balloons to entertain us all...and OH how they entertained us!
I was actually really surprised that people weren't really drinking at the party. There was tons of fun having and good conversations, but very little drinking - I had purchased a TON of alcohol though, so good ol' Lena and I started in on the drinking (we weren't the only ones, but by god, no one could keep up with us!)
I think the biggest shocker of the evening was when MR. FADOIR showed up! For those of you who may remember, he was my high school networking teacher! Holy crap! He RSVPed on facebook that he MIGHT show up, but I never thought he actually would. It was all very exciting! I was slightly disconcerted when I later found out that Nate prattled on about "our story" to him though...Mr. Fadoir's class is where we first met like 6 years ago, but that doesn't really mean I want my old high school teacher knowing overly much about my relationship...i'm weird.
I really did have a fantastic time at my party and I'm VERY happy everyone who managed to show up did. It reminds me just how much I'm going to miss everyone while I'm away.
13 days and counting!
It's coming down to it! Before I leave I will be posting the address where I'll be (in case you want to be crazy and write ME a letter), and I will also be posting a phone number where I can be reached (I just bought an international cell phone - exciting no?).
There's only a couple more things I need to do before I go. I can't believe how quickly it's coming up. :-D
