HOLY CRAP NZ DRIVING WHOA!

About two hours ago I was in a work meeting where we were just going over our current client list and making notes of what needs to be done for each, when Mary (the boss-lady) said she had to go to the airport 'cause she's flying to Christchurch for the weekend, and she turned to me and told me to drive her to the airport.

I freaked the fuck out in my head because I haven't driven here yet, but for realz I just nodded my head and got up to leave with her.

She drove most of the way out to the airport, because...well, she knew the way and I didn't, but the last little leg of it she pulled over and had me switch with her.

HOLY SHIT!

It was rather thrilling. I sincerly miss driving (OH VINNY MY VINNY! I MISS YOU TERRIBLY!).

I'm glad Mary was in the car with me when I first started out, it gave me that comfort zone that made things go seemingly smoother and calmed my nerves a bit. Once I was actually driving, everything was really intuitive though - it may have been backwards, but a manual is a manual! (the only thing I kept messing up was the windshield wipers vs. the turn signal - they're on the opposite side of what I'm used to, so everytime I went to change lanes or turn, the windshield wipers would go...oops?)

I dropped Mary off at the Dunedin airport (which is pretty far out of town), and then I headed back to the town centre all by myself! It was GREAT to just be driving on the road looking out at the BEAUTIFUL countryside. The best part is, I DIDN'T EVEN GET LOST ON THE WAY BACK! I'm rather proud of that one, seeing as I'm usually so awful with directions...really I've just been walking around the city so damn much that I know visually where everything is!

HUZZAH! That totally made my day. What a great freakin' way to end my work week...and tomorrow I'm off to Te Anau!

EXCITEMENT ABOUNDS!
