I'm so FLIPPIN' sick right now, and I'm just trying to find a FREAKIN' doctor in Dunedin that I can go see tomorrow and I can't find ANYTHING online...I don't know if it's 'cause my brain is fried from my fever or if I'm just stupid, but this is incredibly frustrating. Call work, and while you tell them you can't come in, ask if there is a doctor they would recommend.

Getting sick while in another country within the first month is next to normal. You aren't immune to ANY of the local diseases, so everything hits you super hard. Plus the air is different. You might have an upper respiratory infection, that definately sounds like one.

That or go to a phone booth and check the yellow pages. There should be one at the hostel.

I think it's mostly from pushing myself too hard on hikes and not giving it a break...it REALLY hit me on Sunday while I was hiking up steep hills to go see penguins and sea lions and seals.

I actually have checked the yellow pages and they have every kind of doctor listed (mental health, vet etc.) except what I need. It's quite frustrating.

I e-mailed one of my co-workers to see if they could help me...I can't really call, I can barely talk.

Sounds like you found a doctor. How did you find the New Zealand health system? Someone at work help you figure it out?

It was alright...my supervisor at work told me who he went to, I went to that doctor and they told me they weren't taking any new patients and they referred me to an urgent care facility which is where I was taken care of.
