Alright, I give up. I have a number of image files saved on my computer that I cannot view. I have been trying through every avenue I can think of to retrieve these images and not just delete them out of hand. However, no program I've got or found on the web is able to view OR convert the files into a format I can view ( Read more... )

Tried Adobe Photoshop...just downloaded InfranView. Even with that, something is wrong with the image file.

I'm begining to wonder if my computer just saves PNG files wrong. I can't seem to convert the image into any other format OR view. If I get anything at all visually, it looks to be just a single pixle.

*sigh*

I think I'm going to have to scrap the lot and hope I can reloacate some of them. Would be easier if I kept the original file names, too. Then I'll just have to be more careful from now on what format the damn things are trying to save in automatically.

Either photoshop or illustrator should be able to read png files. I am not sure what and ICO file is but its worth trying

I THINK that ICO is an image format for icons...Probably made by one of the online auto-creation programs.

Er ... what is the nature of your inability to view them? Are they not associated with any image viewing software, or do you open them and whichever software gives you an error message?

Normally the default viewer is Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

I've tried manually opening in Paint, Adobe ImageReady, Microsoft Office Picture Manager, and Adobe Photoshop CS.

In the default, no picture shows up at all; just a black white page. With the others, I get what looks like a tiny, single, black pixle.
