A small update and a rant

Work's going fine, with the possibility of a promotion in the near future, which might be enough for me to get my own place, hopefully. :)

I was on the bus Friday night, coming home from work. Not too many people were on the bus, but one guy particular was rather chatty, especially about his religion. He was telling his story about how God saved his life, etc., and that's all well and good. I'm a Christian, but don't practice it, so I don't really care if someone's witnessing. That's cool by me, but then he started on New Orleans, the Gulf Coast and Hurricane Katrina. He then stated what I've heard before: God used Katrina to destroy the area because they were "wicked".

It was all I could to not verbally thrash him.

Let me say that my God doesn't pour things like Hurricane Katrina on us. My God is a loving god, who doesn't do things like this. God gave us free will, and we make choices and face the consequences (whether good or bad) from it. God flooded this world once, and he said he'd never do it again, and I believe it. God didn't use Katrina, nor did he use Katrina to wipe "sin" away from the Gulf Coast. Katrina wasn't an instrument of God's wrath, and I really wish "religious" people would stop saying that. Every time they say it, it just pushes more people away from Christianity.

Sometimes, the best thing to say is nothing at all.
