Today Noel came to the Hoch's home. Noel's job is to change light bulbs. His entire career is to go around to all the estates in Bronxville three times a year and change every single bulb. Even if they aren't burnt out he changes them just in case, so that WASPy mothers and busy dads don't have to rely on their housekeeper or nanny to change them

interesting....
in sociology we read this article about how society stereotypes black women to be one of three things:
1. the mammy type, nurturing but wholly undesireable, like in Gone With the Wind.
2. the domineering matriarch that runs the house and the family
3. the welfare mother with lots of kids and no money.

i wonder if your depiction would fit into 2? or is it a new category???

what a sad existence Noel has.

haha, well based on those three i would say that it would be 4. the single, driven type that is waiting to settle down. All three of those have to do with motherhood, sort of old fashioned.
