Oh, I love this. Sisterly Meredith is a really nice, refreshing change. Especially because Meredith has a personal investment in both Lexie and Mark, what with one being family and the other, like you said, being someone she understands on a dark and twisty relationship level. And the irony of the bright and bubbly Grey sister being in the same situation the dark and twisty one once was is oddly funny. Lexie and Meredith are way more similar than, I think, even they realize.
I'm really excited to read your take on all of this, though!
I always thought that since Meredith was changing as a person, it would make sense for her to now be on Mark AND Lexie's side. She's learning what it means to be a sister and I've always felt like Mark was sort of her "brother;" her male equivalent on the show.
I agree, Meredith and Lexie are more alike than they realize. They both had to deal with dead mothers and even though Lexie had her dad for so many years, after her mom's death she had to deal with her father becoming a completely different person, which was hard on her.
I'm really enjoying this. I stumbled upon this earlier and thought I'd read it. I kind of love it. I like that Meredith is being the big sister. I definitely wish there were more Meredith/Lexie scenes on Grey's. Not just scenes, but heartfelt scenes, like during the episode when Thatcher was sick and needed a new liver. The scenes between Meredith/Lexie were awesome.
Anyway, I liked this. I also like your other story, Nothing Else Matters, as well.
I'm so close to my own sister that I've always loved the scenes between Lexie and Meredith on the show. The episode with Thatcher was one I really enjoyed. It showed how much Meredith was changing and was willing to give people another chance. It also gave her the opportunity to be a good sister.
I even sort of loved the scene in the last episode where Meredith was scolding Lexie for sleeping with Alex because it had such a sisterly feel to me.
