I just watched the second season episode "Flashback" and it made me wonder (spoilers for the episode under the cut)
how much of Fraser's polite Mountie persona is an artificial construct he on purpose adopted to navigate the world on his terms. Because Amnesiac!Fraser is so very different from the Fraser who has all his memories. Startlingly different. And from what I know of general, temporary amnesia it doesn't rob one of one's basic personality.
I should clarify that I don't think of Fraser as Mr.Perfect when he doesn't have amnesia either - he is a very good guy and a moral person, but he does have his rare moments of darkness, and he can be quite sarkastic, snappy, manipulative and passive-aggressive.
(Oh my, the last post here was by me too, is embarrassed and runs away)
