Vid: Pavlov's Bell (aerye)

Jul 14, 2006 10:08

Today's rec is courtesy of Vividcon, which is fast approaching and has me in the mood for vids!

Pavlov's Bell by butterfly

I love the mood created by this vid -- tentative, plaintive, but filled with so much hope. It's a vid inspired by lyrics but not driven by lyrics (my favorite kind of vid these days). Just allow yourself to get a sense of them--

Couldn't have put it better myself - reason why I quoted in fact ;-) - I was only watching this late last night after finding a list of recs for vids, tried to come up with something nice and clever to say about it but as usual I cannot, so I'll just do nice instead.

Great vid, I'd never heard the song before either so that was a good surprise too, loveliness all round.

I think this is one of my favourite vids, for precisely the reasons you give. Thanks

I like this one, too. And I agree that there's as much hope as heartbreak. Not to mention it's always nice to learn a new song. This one is pretty.

That Kowalski is going to save Fraser from a life of heartbreak.

::g:: I give myself shivers just thinking aobut it.

The cool thing is that canon seems to agree. *melts*

I love the parallel this draws between Fraser's reaction to Vecchio and Victoria -- the running, the searching, the shootings. ♥

Oh, yes! Everyone should see this one.

I like this vid so much, I ended up buying the Aimee Mann album the song came from. I like the way the entire first verse feels like an uncomfortable silence, regardless of all the action scenes that are shown. I love the way Fraser's past is threaded through the vid, in cold, washed-out colors, and the implication that his past... betrayals? losses? near misses?.. are getting in the way of his current relationship (partnership, red ship, green ship, whatever). I LOVE the line "I'm all about denial" -- it's total Benton Fraser, and it hits especially hard when paired up with the visual of him kissing.

Both artistically and technically, this is such a good vid, and butterfly is such a great vidder (I only wish I was familiar with more of her fandoms!).
