And one more thing...Why I love Due South

Aug 01, 2006 11:34

Thanks, brooklinegirl for letting me put in my final two cents.

Dear Due South,

It's not often I write love letters.
After all our years together, from that first day we met, in 1993, I think it's fair to say our love has withstood a lot... )

Thanks, too, to you, and everyone else I never would have "met" if not for this wonderful show.

Gone is the smart lady Mountie and her smoldering UST; in her office is a stereotype, a desperate, love-struck caricature.

I didn't have the months-long progression of the Decline of Meg Thatcher, but I'll add my HELL YEAH anyway.

Having said that, I still feel the love. I'm so new to fandom my ickle fandom feet have yet to callous, but I love it already. I missed the Ray wars, so I didn't have any qualms about my encompassing (and entirely different) love for both Rays. Also, Fraser is so much like me it isn't funny (well, except for the hero stuff). No wonder I love his Rays so much. :)

I missed the Ray wars, too, though last year some time, a troglodyte from those wars showed up to comment favorably on a story I wrote (about Ray V) and ended up bashing Ray K. In my journal. Wacky hijinks, as they say, ensued. But I know that love all too well, and even if my squeeish obsession has waned, my loyalty remains.

And for the record, personally I'm more like Ray K, though I dress better.

As well you should. I've discovered through extensive and somewhat obsessively geeky research of celluloid Canadiana, that Ray K pretty much has access to the entire fashionably questionable wardrobe of one Callum Keith Rennie.

The saving grace is that on him it looks good. Um.
