Wilby Wonderful podfic recs!

I'll be reccing due South and C6D podfic this month.

Podfic is one of those things that grew on me. I didn't much like it at first, because I couldn't control the pace of listening, like I can when I read. But then I learned to relax and put myself in the reader's care, and now I love it. A good reader can add so much to the experience of a story.

First off, Wilby Wonderful.

Title: Call This World Home
Author and reader: isiscolo
Pairing: Duck/Dan, Buddy/Carol
Rating: R
Length:3.7 mb, 15.51 minutes, 2450 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: This is a fusion with Last Night, and the story shows us what the characters of Wilby are doing just before the world ends. Considering that it's an apocalypse fic, it might sound strange that this is one of my comfort-podfics. But there's such a sense of calmness in it, of the community drawing together, that I end up being comforted instead of saddened.

Isis has a lovely and expressive reading voice and great pacing, and I could probably listen to her read the phone book. There is also great use of a song from the movie.

Title: A Natural History of the Watch
Author: glossings
Reader: malnpudl
Pairing: Duck/various
Rating: R
Length: 6.5 mb, 18:48 minutes, 2780 words
Why I'm reccing this fic: This is an amazing story, and I really can't recommend it enough. It takes something that could so easily be just dry theory and turns it into something concrete and full of physical and sensory detail. I suppose one could say that it's about the relationship between normal and queer, and between human and beast. But it's also about Duck, and about Wilby. Anyway, I listened to Malnpudl's podfic of this story before I read it, and whenever I read it now, I hear it in her voice, and I love the way that colors the story in my head.

This is also a crossover with Buffy, but don't let that deter you. I don't know Buffy at all, and it worked for me anyway.
