Just cause I wish someone had given me a heads up...
A few bits of advice:
Get to know your floormates. I never really hung out with mine too much at the start of the year, but the group gets close fast. You want to know who you're showering and taking a poo next to every day...
Don't be afraid to join some kind of group. I'm not saying you should be a "super involved dork," but maybe just try to find one thing that gets your juices flowing. That's how I met my closest friends.
Brace yourself for the freedom. No matter how much you may think you run your own ship, college is just an awesome "I'm a big kid" feeling.
Bring a good alarm clock. Mommy won't be there to wake you up :-P
Remember, everyone is in your shoes. You already have something in common with every single person on your floor, in your building and in your class.
I feel like K10 gave some great pointers.. First relax everyone else is nervous too. Your not the only one, they are nervous whether or not they show it.
**Remember to be yourself, Get to know a lot of people, Go to random events; you'll met some cool kids, be open minded to doing new things, don't say no to hanging out, remember to study a bit, but have fun!, and the first few weeks get involved so you aren't homesick!***
