I learnt yesterday that my right nostril is bigger than my left nostril.
Friday I had a nice Jap lunch with a good friend, the only thing that wasn't good about the lunch was the lousy ramen soup and the fact that I got an unagi bone in my throat. I tried to clear it out and thought I was successful, but when I woke up on Saturday morning still feeling some pain, I thought it was time to see a doc.
Went to the nearest A&E, and the throat-nose-ear specialist couldn't see anything 'thru my mouth so had to do an endoscopy 'thry my nose!!! Basically, she was sticking this 4-5mm thick camera-cum-grabber thing 'thru my nose into my throat... shown by the arrows below
First she tried it 'thru my left nostril, at first it felt okay and I thought hey this is pretty cool I get to clear my nasal passage! But halfway 'thru I felt so bad I almost fainted. Managed to stop her and extracted the thing out... before I gathered my energy to the nearest sink to puke.
She insisted on trying 'thru my right nostril instead... at this point I was almost begging her to look 'thru my mouth instead. She said it wasn't an option! Took a few more minutes to compose myself... and let her stick that thing into my right nostril.
This time round, it was a breeze! Okay maybe my own positive talking played a part - I kept thinking "It's okay it's okay it's okay" . . . and I didn't feel as much discomfort as the last time.
So that's how I found out my right nostril is bigger than my left.
And that despite my huge flat nose, my nostrils are actually pretty small.
Oh, and if you're curious, she didnt manage to find any bone, but saw lotsa scarring. So I was given lotsa antibiotics and meds.
