Through cracked eyelid I watched my sister Eisha, pad across the room in her small clothes. She grabbed her woolen stockings, long sleeved heavy cotton shift and indigo blue pinafore from her chair and quickly headed to the fire, poking at the embers until they gave in to her ministrations and the small pieces of kindling stared to burn. I love stories with happy endings and you could have brought this one either direction. I'm glad you chose the happy direction instead of the tear-filled one.

We seem to be. My hubs who has Multiple Sclerosis, and my 20mos. Grandbaby are still fighting congestion but are slowly recovering. I take care of my grandson during the day while his dad works (don't get me started on his mama. And my 66yr. Old baby too so this has been a rough week .

And boy do we need happy endings. Peace~~~D

I really loved the descriptions here, it's very evocative, and I loved the way it grows the sense of foreboding with the about turn at the wink
