In the spirit of humility and charity, the sarcasm of the letter and the gloating thereafter certainly need to be denounced. This type of response cannot become the norm. If it does, you certainly will be right, homeschooling will become a matter of elitism. Yet don't you think there's a long way to go before that happens? The opposition seems to relish in portraying the movement as more fringe than elite.
As a person far removed from the whole homeschooling phenomena (yet a great admirer and an occasional defender) and child-rearing, I have very little if any room to laugh. Nonetheless, it was just surprising to see such gross cluelessness coming from the opposition.
