For quite a while, I have wanted to share photos of my home of worship, the Chapel of the Sorrowful Mother @ St. Francis Via Christi Hospital, but I never had a ready camera for the occasion. Two catechumens, Carlos and Sarah, blessed our community with a website of accompanying information and photos, Read more... )

Yes and no. A church of our own is a long-term goal (10-15 years), whereas building the community, maintaining/fostering the Byzantine identity in a sea of Roman Catholics, and evangelizing are more immediate goals. We are the only Eastern Catholic presence in most of Kansas (except Kansas City, KS) and yet we are so small. Until we're told we need to leave the hospital chapel, this is where we will be at. Money, of course, is an issue for the daily expenses we incur and for future projects.

Very cool chapel, as well the icons! To be honest, being new to all this (only two years of exposure), I know very little of the crucial, and beautiful details involved in the varying liturgies and rites (Christian or otherwise), yet I like the presence of the icons in the Byzantine.

And you know, it's funny, that photo above is the only I've seen of you on livejournal, and I still have no idea what your age is. Well, it's not funny for the photo--it'd be a great skill to pick an age group by the back of somebody's head :), you know what I mean though.

What liturgies have you assisted at? I first started exploring liturgies about 3 years ago and I was astounded by the richness, age and beauty of the Church ever since.

As for my age, perhaps I may disclose it or post a better photograph in a friends-post in the future. I've thought about it before. But to tell you the truth, we're probably very near in age.

I haven't. I'm at that same point of first exploring, and I agree: there is much richness in the various traditions throughout the Church, as well in Orthodoxy. At the moment I just barely have the time in my life to dig into the Roman rite more thoroughly through the updated edition of the daily missal.
