Ugh, I'm getting disgustingly excited about The Hunger Games and that song is not helping. I'm totally going to start my reread this week (after I've finished rewatching season 2 of Cougar Town to prepare for the premiere tomorrow).

So, I've been thinking about VM fic since you've been posting about it so much and I can't stop thinking about theohara's alternate season 2. It's an eternal WIP, so maybe you skipped over it in your big fic discovery extravaganza? Anyway, that fic makes me sigh more about what-could-have-been than anything else in the universe. Sorry, just had to get that out and since you're the one who infected me with all these FEELINGS, you'll just have to bear the brunt of it.

Oh man, Alt S2. By far one of the best "what if" fics for VM I've ever read. (I loved all of theohara's stuff, IIRC, but that was kind of the crown jewel for me.)

I haven't even read The Hunger Games books. Hee. I got them eons ago but I haven't been in the mood to read teen stuff. Maybe I'll get to them on vacation next week.

And I think I read theohara's virtual S2 waaay back then, but I don't really remember it at all. Found links on her memories, will add them to the pile of other links I already got. THANKS. :)

Love the new layout! And you are seriously making me want to revisit all my bookmarked VM fic and see how it's held up.

I hope you have a great time during Carnival! Your mentioning that just got me on the weirdest tangential thought path, but I guess it's because the film won two BAFTAs last night - I'm sure you must have seen the Senna film at some point in the past year? Thinking of Carnival just put it in my head, I guess because there's a brief scene in it of Ayrton at Carnival, haha.

Thanks! And hee, It's kinda awesome that I got a couple of people wanting to read VM fic again after so many years.

And yeah, I know about the Senna film, but I didn't want to watch it, because I kinda think my heart can't take it. I don't even like looking at pictures of him because I get really really sad.

Aww, I totally understand that. It definitely has been a very emotional experience each time I've seen it, but it's so excellent that despite that, I've actually watched it more than once. I guess I like that it's done so well because it focuses just as much on him as a man as on him as a driver, and I think it really does both sides of him justice. My Dad had a really rough time watching it too, though, so I know what you mean.

THAT BEACH. I miss the beach this time of year. It's so cold and blah up here now.

I'm looking forward to seeing what fics end up standing out for you! There were a lot of stories that I liked at the time, but I have no idea if they hold up over time after years have passed.

Wish I could bottle up some of the unbearable heat we've been getting here in Rio for you. I don't mind sunny days, but over 100F temps everyday is pretty much living in HELL.

I packed a whole bunch of fics on my Kindle, so I'll start adding the ones I like to Delicious once I've been through them all -- and deleted the stuff I didn't much care for. But I'm starting to think most fics really held up to the time passed, much as the show -- well, season 1 -- did too.
