Through with Feeble Hoping

A prequel of sorts, a bit of character background for my Peter Carlisle in An Officer and the Noble Woman.  It was originally part of the companion piece I'm writing for To Die, To Sleep - To Sleep, Perchance to Dream, which is a backstory for Donna Noble in my monster-on-my-harddrive, AOATNW.  The only problem was this began to take on a life of ( Read more... )

Explaining how two certain someones could look alike? ;) I like it. :D

Is she still alive in AOATNW? Because I badly want her and Donna to meet. And for her to meet Sylvia. Talk about an awkward situation, but what a moment it would be.

Beautiful! A great treat to come home to after a long day. *hugs*

Oh, the Hardy thing was just me having a bit of fun coming up with a name with a nice ring to it, but yeah, I'm warming to a potential addition to the list of eventual wedding guests, if that's not giving too much away. Maybe Alec grew the beard to distinguish himself from his lookalike cousin when too many people commented on the resemblance?

And yes, Coira is alive and well and it's always been intended that Peter will take Donna home to meet her someday. She's been lurking around in the back of my mind for over a year now, but when I was writing Peter's companion piece of backstory, as soon as she told me her name, she wriggled in and took center stage. I couldn't bear to cut her out of the story completely, but rather removed this to create a stand-alone for reasons of pacing.

As for Sylvia? Let's just say that Serenityslady has been advocating for a showdown of sorts, and now that Coira has made her presence known, I think the confrontation is inevitable.

Thanks so much for the comments and I hope to add more soon.

*giggles* Well, I would've thought so until the very end of Episode 1 of Series 2. But I still like your idea. :DDDDD

Great! I cannot wait, and your comments about a showdown make me happy. I suspect she might have some things to say to a certain alien, too. :DDDD

Welcome. *hugs*

I like the additions to the last paragraphs. You ended it nicely.

As I told you before (and agree with tkel_paris), I would love to see Ciora meet Sylvia. I would love to see someone quietly but firmly put that woman in her place!

Thanks fro sharing this. Any and all additions to AOATNW are heartily welcome.

Coira is packing a can of whoop-ass for her trip to London, and it's got Sylvia's name written all over it in big, felt-tipped marker.

Thanks as always for the read and suggestions- since I write in drips and drabs, I do tend to reuse the same word too much and have to go back and reread for flow and you help with that immeasurably.

One day, I hope I actually have enough written to warrant a master list and Coira Hardy-Carlisle might have to have her own separate division.

I can hardly wait. It should be videotaped for posterity!

Always and anytime, my dear. I am privileged to be a part of the adventure.

It'll happen sooner than you think. And I love the idea of an entire Ciora Hardy-Carlisle wing. (I keep seeing Lindsey Duncan or Celia Imrie in the role.)

Love! Coira is fantastic! I really like how you nailed the tough love elements, it feels very real. And yes, I was going to clamor for her to meet Donna but happily others are asking the same :D

You navigated a non-schmaltzy reunion here that was moving and measured, and felt so true to who both of them are. He did have to be broken to go to her and allow himself to be vulnerable, but she didn't crow about being right, just found her way of letting him know how much she loved and cared about him without vilifying Roselyn ♥ Beautifully done.

High praise, indeed, coming as it does from a master of the moving and measured ( ... )
