And writing this got me to thinking- what would have happened if Jack hadn't retrieved Ten's hand? Yeah, it was instrumental in saving all of creation and giving Rose a "Grow Your Own Time Lord", but on the flip side, it destroyed Donna and as a result, Ten lost his moral compass, which eventually lead to his early regeneration.
I'm thinking he's going to reflect on the consequences of his actions soon, but I haven't decided how exactly it will be expressed in the story yet. But I'm sure of one thing- Jack did the right thing, but that doesn't help him get to sleep at night sometimes.
I like how Jack is as a mysterious figure like the Doctor. We know his intentions are sincere but Peter is unaware of it.
Rose getting her own "Doctor" was like something out of that movie "Weird Science". Like he was created purely to go "domestic" for Rose. I don't know what the Doctors excuse would of been if he didn't have a spare hand to give Rose.
Rose always got the best outcome in every situation and yet because of her ignorance she would still complain. Jack, Donna and even the Doctor himself suffered as a result.
You are far, far too kind. I can't tell you how much it means to me that you're still reading this. I promise, although I write at a glacial pace, I'm going as fast as I can.
Peter is getting back to Donna in the next installment, which, I promise, is already underway. This last part was plotted from the very beginning, and in fact, was one of the first things I'd decided on when I started writing. I've still got a few milestones to place before all is said and done.
Thanks again and I hope I can start reading again soon.
He most certainly can just "disappear into thin air!" I could so see the TARDIS hiding between two porta-potties. Some of them around here are blue....
Poor Peter, told to back down from this whole thing, then finding out this wasn't the first time Torchwood has shut down investigations. Ooh, he felt a bit sheepish at being fooled by some of the cover stories, but his interest picked up with Lance Bennet's death investigation.... the question is, will he just cave in, or won't he?
And Rose Tyler was there, even though she was supposed to be missing/dead several years back. Good that Jack took possession of that hand, to give it back to it's original owner. I'm thinking that Peter is making the connection that the American was Jack.
Hmm... this case is fascinating. Will Peter find Dr. Smith? Will it be this one or the next? I guess we will stay tuned!
Actually, the disappearance of the TARDIS between the portapotties was a reference to Fear Her, where just that happened. Since I was using Ten's lighting of the Olympic Torch from that episode, it seemed appropriate.
Oddly-or fittingly- enough, in the building trade in the UK, TARDIS is slang for a portapotty (or more properly, a portaloo).
(The stuff I've learned doing research for this story.....)
Yeah- Rose and that damned wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey thing- she's already in Pete's World at this time, but her personal timeline pops and jumps all over the place, so I liked the idea of her being seen again, especially after her mother reported her missing once.
As for Jack- the poor boy is unforgettable, and Peter is on the lookout for him once more. I love Jack, btw, so he'll be making at least one more appearance in the near future.
If you think I'm not eyeing for updates... *glomphug* Glad to see more of this! I missed you this weekend.
I wish the Doctor had to see the aftermath he leaves behind. Would he still be so willing to just walk away if he knew the damage he leaves for the people to clean up in his wake?
Peter has some additional pieces of the puzzle. And interesting about Cave. Maybe THAT was part of his interest in Donna, in talking with her. At first. Hmm... I think things are heating up, and the storm clouds are gathering.
Still... would've loved to see the look on that woman's face. *evil grin*
Missed you as well this last weekend. I was heartbroken I wasn't able to go this year, but it's all good. My friend Kollin got to go in my place, and he's hooked now, so we'll all be back next year. Hope you had a great time!
As for Caveman- he knows more than he's telling. Remember when he sauntered past Donna -repeatedly- when she came to visit Bence when he was taken into custody? Yeah, it wasn't idle curiosity.
Thanks for reading and I hope it was worth the wait.
Oh, I did. Not as much of one because I was stuck at another hotel and didn't feel safe going back and forth between them late at night. So I missed the karaoke and Match Game. Next year... I need roommates and to be at the Marriott. But I met shivver13 in line for a Peter Davison photo! :D
Nope, not at all. And I wonder if Cave will be of help to Peter later on.
It was. Now to wait for more. :) I should have the final parts of Flipped 3 up soonish, FYI.
Oh, poor Peter. Having to explain himself before his superior. I do hope he never has the opportunity to actually confront Ten. The Time Lord will never know what hit it
( ... )
Sorry- I can neither confirm nor deny whether Peter will or will not meet up with a certain Time Lord. I can confirm that he will meet A Time Lord, but as to which one(s), you'll just have to keep reading

I admit to giggling a bit when I read that too. He is just such a good (much like his portrayer).
He does indeed strut about, doesn't he? As much as he abhorred most of what the Time Lords stood for, he did indeed inherit their arrogance.
Both play a part, I imagine!
I love this. It makes so much sense.
