1. Always bring a pal! A convention can get a little dull so it's always the best idea to have a friend to fall back on and chat with as you're there! 2. The price of food at a convention is always raised much higher. It's probably best to go out for lunch if you can. (I spent $40 for two people at the last con I went to when I could have done it for $10 or under elsewhere, lines took forever too.) 3. You'll probably have money beforehand - ATMs also charge a larger fee to get money out of your account while you're there. 4. Maybe try to find out when things are open and when they close so you can visit them before they're done. Some things close a little early. 5. Have fun! :D
