Hey gang! My application to lead a JE panel at Tekkoshocon has been accepted!!

My plan is to “give a brief introduction and history of the company and their groups, explaining their overwhelming presence in Japanese and Asian media.” I intend to do this especially through examples that anime convention attenders are more likely to have some ( Read more... )

The only one I really know is that the mangaka of Lovely Complex was a big Subaru (and Yoko and Hina) fan and she used to draw doujinshi of them when they were juniors.

thanks!

ah~ I totally forgot Bambino! was based off a manga *fail* but yeah, I have a hard time keeping track of which dramas are based off manga and whatnot.

I'll update the list with the new info...

It is gonna be quite a drive, if I didn't have friends carpooling with me I'd never have taken on this crazy adventure... especially... 5-6 hours of road-tripping listening to & singing along with JE music XD

No problem :DD

Also, Yamashita Tomohisa also starred in IWGP as Mizuno Shun.

and sorry about all the edits on my comment, I keep remembering more and more stuff XDD

I mean, I love a good old road trip with friends, but with gas + time + parents I would have to come up with some grand lie about sleeping over at a friend's house for a weekend or something lol.

can I also add that I FAIL for forgetting MatsuJun's Gokusen role in my original list?

and Yamapi's role too... I never watched IWGP, but I remember my roommate suddenly screaming "THEY KILLED YAMAPI" all too well <.<;

no worries on the edits ~ the new info is helpful

ahahaha, yeah... that's totally understandable.

Oh my what a long list you have! Most of the ones i thought of are already up..

Hmm Tegomasu sang the 2 ending theme songs for Neo Angelique ~Abyss~ (ネオアンジェリーク Abyss) First one being Ai Ai Gasa (アイアイ傘) and the second one Kataomoi no Chiisana Koi (片想いの小さな恋) lol.

That's all for now. If i remeber anything else i'll drop by again :D

Actually there's still one i know of.. But it's not that well known so i'm not sure whether you want to add it in. lol!

The manga is Gekka no Kishi (月下の棋士), about chess playing. lol. In 2000 it was made into a drama starred by Morita Go who acted as the main character, Himuro Masayuki (氷室 将介). Hmm the theme song was sung by V6, Yasei no Hana (野性の花). I love the song <3

Hope it helps :D

You made a small mistake^^ It's Tsuyoshi who played Kindaichi, not Koichi~

my knowledge of recent animation & manga are super limited, which is why I've been digging around online and asking everyone for input! :)

Nakajo Hisaya regularly mentions JE boys and music (I've specifically seen SMAP, V6, Tokio, but nothing below that I think) in Hana-Kimi's little sidepanels, and apparently the characters Sano Izumi and Ashiya Mizuki are named after Sano Mizuki, who's in the agency (but really old xD). Ouran's mentioned JE at least once, but it's mostly been edited out by Viz people. No one cares, but Taguchi Junnosuke (KAT-TUN) was in the Happy! TV movies which were based on manga.

YamaNade is probably worth mentioning cause Wallflower is pretty popular here. WILL COMMENT WHEN MY BRAIN IS WORKING AGAIN. XD

ah~ thanks for all the info! I've added it to the list :) (makes me want to go back and re-read hana kimi for all the sidepanel references that I didn't get before!)
