fairly sure this is political cartoonists:

vi is a famous cartoon called "dropping the captain" of kaiser wilhem sacking bismarck (but i don't know remember who the cartoonist was)
in ii the corsican is obviously napoleon
viii: might be a gillray cartoon of peel and [not sure] carving up the world as a big plum pudding (not sure about this, might be muddle two different cartoons)

I can recall viii (but not the artist) - I’m pretty sure the emperor is Napoleon too.

Oh i might be the early-US cartoon of the states as parts of a chopped-up snake? “We must all hang together or we shall certainly all hang separately” era

yes! there was a 18th century iconography in which various nations were portrayed as various beasts in political cartoons, and i think yr right, the US was often a snake
