Oh, I agree. Even a full lifetime is too short a time and we spend far too much of it on aspects that don't much matter. At the end of a life one may see the trivial result of the multitude of choices one has made about how to prioritize time; it's kind of distressing to think of it that way but that's the way it is.
Sometimes people who see that truth will snarl at it as you sometimes do - or as you've been doing more often as of late. The result is a discovery of a balance that is healthier for the spirit even though often contrary to the expectations and norms of this society. Go figure.
It's like this, you can ask yourself if what you are prioritizing will have any significance in a 20 years or 10 years or whatever time frame you wish to reference; most often the answer will be "no" or "don't know".
