If there was anything that Minho hates about school, it is the fact that he's a total loner. He walks in the hallways one, he eats his lunch alone and wait for the class to start alone. He has no one to talk to and it makes Minho feel, somehow, stupid. While his classmates were busy talking and laughing with one another, he would sit on his desk in a corner, awkwardly looking around and fondling with anything within his reach. If he has a choice, he would come to school five minutes before the class starts. That way, he won't have to look and feel stupid.
But those days were gone. The word that Lee Onew is now dating Choi Minho got around the campus fast like a wildfire. People started flooding his lockers with hate letters threatening him that he would pay for turning Onew into a faggot like him. Most of the letters are from girls. When he's walking in the hallways people will point or whisper behind their hands. It really was horrible.
Minho would give everything to go back to the days when he's invisible. He never asked for this to happen to him. He would rather look stupid for having no friends than looking stupid for probably being the most hated guy in school. He was thankful that Onew goes with him during lunch break because the haters will back off and leave him alone. He was really thankful for that hour of peace and order.
Onew noticed how Minho would fidget whenever he puts an arm around his waist or whenever he would kiss him. He always pulls back too quickly and would look around after the display of affection.
"Are you ashamed of us?" Onew suddenly blurted out one day.
"What?" said Minho.
"You heard me," said Onew shortly.
"No. Of course, not!" said Minho.
"Then, why do you keep in avoiding my affection? Why do you always cut our kisses short?" said Onew.
"T-there a-are a lot of p-people watching," said Minho in a low voice so that the students near them cannot hear.
"Don't mind them! They can enjoy our show!" said Onew.
He leaned in and capture Minho's lips in a heated kiss. It soon turned into a make out session in the cafeteria. People sure were staring at them now. Even the lunch ladies paused to watch Onew eat Minho's face up. Onew pulled away after several minutes. He then noticed how Minho's eyes were starting to water now.
"Are you crying? Did I hurt you?!" Onew asked, his vice full of panic.
"No. I'm sorry, Onew. I'm just not used to this," said Minho. He wiped the stray tears in the corners of his eyes.
Onew noticed how people were gaping at them and some were whispering behind the hands.
"What are you staring at? Would you fuck off?!" said Onew.
With that, the students looked away from them and the cafeteria were filled with deafening silence.
Minho can't help but feel proud of Onew.
He felt proud at how powerful his boyfriend is. He saw how Onew can protect him from those haters and was tempted to just tell Onew about the threats that he got. But he doesn't want to be such a baby. People will only hate him more if he tellls Onew that people were actually bullying him because of their relationship.
"Do you have something on your mind, yeobo?" said Onew.
Minho snapped out of his thoughts and turn to face Onew.
"N-no. I was just thinking of my piano piece," said Minho.
The senior smiled at him and planted a kiss on the top of his head.
Whack! Someone dumped a thick book on the table that Minho was sitting in. He was studying for the upcoming finals in the library late at night and he was beyond horrified when that happened. He looked up and found a boy with sharp cheekbones and feeline eyes looking down on him. Minho couldn't recognize the boy who was standing opposite him. He wasn't even sure if he's even a student here. The boy sat down on the chair in front of him and started browsing through the thick book. Minho shuffled uncomfortably as the boy continued browsing but his feeline eyes were now focused on Minho.
"Are you him?" said the boy as he closed the book sharply.
"Huh?" said Minho, stupidly.
"Are you Onew's new prey?" said the boy.
"What are you talking about?" said Minho. He was definitely getting creeped out. He was really surprised that his voice wasn't cracking.
"Stay away from him if you value your sanity, boy," said the boy.
"Who do you think you are to tell me that?" said Minho.
"Someone as fresh and innocent as you can't love someone as bad and disgusting as him," said the boy.
"You are not going to tell me who I should or shouldn't love. Just leave me alone," Minho shot back.
"Stubborn, aren't we? Trust me. You're going to thank me someday," the boy whispered as he leaned in closer to Minho. Before he left, he patted Minho's cheek, chuckling as he gracefully walked out of the library. Minho was left staring where the boy was sitting just moments ago under the flickering light of the library.
