Well since people are still willing to read what I have to write I am still going to write.  I have a decent job for now, it would be good for if I go back to school, which I probably should to get my masters, however I don't know what I want to do.  I thought I'd like to be a psychologist and do some therapy but after volunteering as a crisis ( Read more... )

It really depends on where you work. A teacher will get paid no less then $29,000 a year. And thats a shitty fucking district in the boondocks of poor state NY. New York city starts teachers around $42,000 a year (maybe up to $45?) Long Island is usually about $50.

However it is fucking difficult to get a job on long island without experience. Usually people start in NYC somewhere and then after a few years go over to the island (sounds like the police).

Also for teachers you need to get your grad degree within 5 years in order to keep your certification. I imagine Guidance Counselors need it prior to getting the job, but then I've never researched getting that job.

I believe some career websites can tell you how much guidance counselors make in each area if you put in a zip code. They get paid less than teachers, not the same, and yes, those jobs are hard to come by, as I want one. Be glad that we live in different states so I won't be competing with you. I think I bring work home with me a little too much... but I'm slowly trying to learn not to.
