Susan and CASPIAN? They are never meant to be! NEVAH!!!1111ONE11!
Darn, now I did read this before I went to see it XD You know, if there's one movie I can forgive for ripping off LOTR, it's Narnia. Why? Well, Lewis and Tolkien practically wrote their books together. Okay, so Tolkien thought Narnia was very silly for adding several mythological creatures from different cultures and times in -one- book. Still. They were friends. I think it's in a way a tribute to their friendship.. Yes? ^^;
Well, in LotR it was an eagle, but, "huge winged beast" applies :D Beate describes it as "taking a Gandalf".
Yes, and also, I always thought, Susan the Beautiful and Somewhat Useless. I liked her well enough, but she was not a strong fearless female, and it is insulting to the character she actually was to do something completely different. Of course, they want to appeal to all age groups, including the romantic teenage girls, but in this case it was untrue to the story. Not everyone is a hero, and not all heroes are warriors.
huh. Did some poking and apparently, after meeting a certain woman (can't recall who), Lewis's opinion of women changed somewhat, which is why Aravis was hardcore badass :) Susan-actress suggested they go with this angle for Susan, saying it would be stupid of the Narnians not to use a good archer in the field, which sort of is understandable, if completely OOC.
Aaah. Aravis was indeed hardcore and much more fun than Shasta.
Yeah, I get why they did it, and that does indeed make sense. I think I might have liked it if I hadn't read the books, but that is how these things go, innit...they did do a good job otherwise, like, say, casting Ben Barnes as Caspian. *restrains squeeing* I think part of my annoyance is that I prefer single, hot movie men to remain, well, single. Good for the imagination and the never-to-be-written fanfics XD

In Lord of the Rings? When?
But on the whole, yis, agree. Especially on Susan. Did they miss the fact she was Susan the Gentle?
