First, before anyone goes off, this is not a statement for or against any ideas. It is me getting my house in order. So you may wonder I am not making a statement why am I bothering to put it here? I'm not sure that one ever actually "achieves" a virtue: I've always thought of them as goals to be continually striving for, but not necessarily ever completely attained. In that light, I think it's reasonable to be proud of progress that you've made (there's no virtue in denying your own good work), especially if it inspires you to keep striving.

Personally, I'm not all that big on the concept of "sinning" - I don't think a person is defined by his/her sins any more than s/he is by his/her virtues - it's the journey in one direction or another (and whether they are brave enough to make a course correction) that is the real measure of the man.
