The Hulk filmmakers [aka Marvel Studios] knew exactly what they were doing -- we appear to have seen it with an audience that was about a 30% fanboys, who chuckled and ahah'ed at the same points that we (longtime Marvel readers) did: Stan Lee, Bill Bixby, Lou Ferrigno, several catchphrases, Stark Industries, S.H.I.E.L.D., and of course the cameo at the end. You definitely should see Iron Man -- Marvel is going to be releasing several movies over the next few years that will gradually build the Avengers team (or at least one of the many permutations of it). Sadly, since movie rights for the Spidey and the XMen have been contracted to other studios, those characters are unlikely to show up, but there are still dozens if not hundreds of other characters available. If you want a primer on the Marvel universe, B can give you more than you can assimilate. While you're visiting. In between UNCLE viewings.
